International Recognition for HyBreak

Automa Smart Grid Days Event

Dana Abu-Suud from NeRV project partner, Bohr Limited, took to the stage at the Automa Smart Grid Days event in Italy recently to share insights from the Hybreak project.

Project Engineer, Dana, was invited to give an overview of the project to gas industry professionals, including network operators and technology providers, from around the world.

HyBreak is a smart retrofittable excess flow valve designed to ensure the safe use of hydrogen gas in domestic properties. In a project supported by Ofgem NIA funding, prototype valves were installed in controlled research properties on site at NeRV where their safety benefits were rigorously put to the test.

Presenting at the event, Dana said:

In the transition phase towards renewable gases, the gap between reactive safety and proactive safety becomes even more critical.

“With a product like HyBreak, we are able to close this gap and potentially make 23 million homes safer. This would set a new benchmark worldwide: a product like this has not been deployed anywhere else in the world.”

The conference organisers are now compiling the information from Dana’s presentation into a book which is due to be published soon.
